Washington, D.C. — Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr., Chairman of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, announced today that Newark Liberty International Airport would receive $42,448,414 from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funding package. The new $1.2 trillion law will repair and modernize America’s transportation systems, from roads and bridges to rail and airports. President Biden signed the Act into law on November 15, 2021.
“I am proud to help pass the new Infrastructure law and get this funding for upgrades to Newark Liberty International Airport,” said Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr. “I have been meeting with city councils throughout our district to discuss funding for their infrastructure and water projects as well. I would encourage officials throughout our district to apply for grants to fund similar projects in their communities. This work is part of my commitment to get the federal resources necessary to help all of my constituents in New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District.”
