WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) voted to pass the American Rescue Plan Act, a bill that will deliver more than $10 billion in direct aid to New Jersey, including hundreds of millions to Burlington and Ocean Counties and their townships, to fund critical programs to address the public health and economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. President Biden will now sign the bill into law.

Congressman Kim will host a virtual town hall this Saturday, March 13th, at 2pm to answer questions from residents of Burlington and Ocean Counties about the bill and how it will help them directly. Residents can sign up by visiting Congressman Kim's website by clicking here.

"Today's vote comes exactly one year after the first COVID-19 death in New Jersey. Since then, we've lost more than 23,000 of our neighbors, with hundreds of thousands losing their jobs or their businesses," said Congressman Kim. "This crisis has impacted every New Jerseyan, and Congress owes every one of you everything we can to get you through this. This bill is big because the crisis we face is big. It funds faster vaccine distribution because we need to get shots in arms now. It provides direct payments, tax credits, and larger unemployment help to our working families because we can't leave them behind even when the virus is beaten. It directs critical help to our small businesses because they're the backbone of our economy. And provides funds to our counties and townships so they can reopen schools and keep our first responders on the job."

The American Rescue Plan is the fifth major, comprehensive relief bill the Congressman has passed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Early efforts by Congressman Kim included initial funds for vaccine research and small business assistance. Those efforts were supplemented by a bill that provided funding that helped establish testing and other COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The Congressman went on to fight for and pass the CARES Act, which delivered direct relief funds to working families, assistance to small businesses, and help for frontline health care workers. In December, Congressman Kim passed additional help to begin the process of distributing vaccines and extend help to small businesses and working families.

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Small Business. More information about Congressman Kim can be found on his website by clicking here.
