WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) announced that he will hold a Women's History Month town hall on Monday, March 29th at 3:30pm. The town hall will focus on the legacy of Alice Paul, a Mt. Laurel native, suffragist and women's civil rights leader who spent more than seven decades fighting for equality.
Congressman Kim will be joined by Alyssa Hunt from the Alice Paul Institute and Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, who will present on the importance of Ms. Paul's work and her legacy of leadership in New Jersey.
"Our own community has been home to women who have shaped American history, and they deserve our recognition this Women's History Month," said Congressman Kim. "From Clara Barton to Alice Paul to the women working every day to get us through this pandemic, we should all take time to learn about those who have made such an incredible impact. I would encourage students, parents, and anyone else who wants to learn more and engage in this educational effort to join us for this event."
Last month, Congressman Kim and Congressman Norcross (NJ-01) introduced the Alice Paul Voter Protection Act, which would build on Ms. Paul's legacy of advocating for voting rights and protections by prohibiting the interference of voter registration efforts to protect a citizen's access to vote.
