Today, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) issued the following statement on her vote with a bipartisan majority of the U.S. House of Representatives to advance H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act:

“Today, I cast my vote to pass the American Dream and Promise Act again in this new Congress to provide a pathway to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients, so many of whom came to this country as children and others who’ve spent too much of their lives in legal limbo.

Americans who’ve known no other home than the one they’ve had in our communities deserve the same opportunity to fulfill the American dream and achieve success in the nation they’ve contributed to their whole lives.”

The American Dream and Promise Act provides permanent protections to the nation’s Dreamers, as well as to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED), allowing them to contribute fully to their local communities and the country while providing a pathway to citizenship.
