Today, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) issued the following statement on the House’s bipartisan passage of the Protecting Rights to Organize (PRO) Act, legislation to protects workers’ basic right to organize and negotiate for higher pay, better benefits, and safer working conditions:

“Hardworking Iowans, the men and women who work every single day to support themselves and their families, are the foundation of our economy. Those dedicated Iowans deserve a voice in their workplace, and the legislation I supported today ensures workers’ rights to collectively bargain for adequate pay and benefits, fair hours, and healthy and safe working conditions.

“The PRO Act strengthens workers’ rights to collectively bargain, improves protections for union activities, cracks down on unfair practices that disadvantage workers and unions, and bolsters our processes for resolving labor disputes. I promised to be a voice for Iowa’s workers here in Washington, and that means making sure our laws protect our workers’ rights and voices.”

The PRO Act was originally introduced and passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in the 116th Congress in February 2020.
