"I'm proud that every member of Congress, staff and visitors to our Capitol will get a chance to see Kathleen's amazing painting," said Congressman Kim. "We had a number of very good entries this year, and I want to thank everyone who participated and encourage more to participate next year. I look forward to proudly pointing out Kathleen's painting every time I walk by it in the Capitol as a reminder of home."

The Congressional Art Competition is held each spring and is sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The competition is open to all high school students and the winning artwork is displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on the House of Representatives' Congressional Art Competition page.

"I'm very honored to have this opportunity to show my artwork on such a large scale," said Palmer. "I couldn't possibly explain how fantastic I feel knowing that my years spent developing my skills in art are being recognized! My gratitude towards anyone who has supported me in my artistic ventures is infinite and I plan on continuing to build my skills for a lifetime thanks to all of the support I've received!"
Previous Congressional Art Competition winners from New Jersey's Third Congressional District include Kaeleigh Mackiewicz, a former student of Cinnaminson High School in Cinnaminson, NJ, and Ariel Etzel, a former student of Point Pleasant Borough High School in Point Pleasant, NJ.
