U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) tried to introduce an amendment to the short-term government funding bill to prevent tax dollars from funding gender transition surgeries for children under 18 years old.
"Performing these unnecessary, life-altering, and irreversible medical procedures on children is barbaric. It certainly should not be funded with tax dollars. Unfortunately, House Democrats don't seem to agree." Said Rep. Burchett.
Rep. Burchett’s amendment was blocked from consideration in the continuing resolution that would fund the government through December 16, 2022.
