WASHINGTON, DC- -- Today, Congressman Andy Kim(NJ-03) announced that he will be holding a town hall on Wednesday, November 3rd, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss his efforts to uplift communities still recovering from Superstorm Sandy, including his Security After Sandy Act. The Congressman will discuss a provision of his legislation that was signed into law on September 30, which has provided local governments in New Jersey forgiveness for $25.9 million in outstanding Community Disaster Loans (CDLs) that were still owed to the federal government. He will also discuss his continuing efforts to pass the remainder of the bill, which would provide forgiveness to homeowners who are still being required to repay duplicate benefits they received through no fault of their own.
"Nine years later, our communities are still recovering from the lingering, devastating effects of Superstorm Sandy," said Congressman Kim. "I'm proud to have passed $12 million in relief for Ocean County towns and schools and will continue doing all I can in Congress to give homeowners the relief they need as the COVID-19 pandemic continues and damage from Superstorm Sandy persists. Today and every day, it's important we remember all of the lives that Superstorm Sandy forever changed."
Congressman Kim will be joined by Amanda Devecka-Rinear, the Director of the New Jersey Organizing Project.
