PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – This morning, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03)welcomed the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, to Pemberton Township High School for an educational school-wide assembly. In attendance were Pemberton high school students as well as 4th and 5th grade students from Fort Dix Elementary School, faculty, school administrators, local elected officials, and servicemembers from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

"When I spoke with Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield a few months ago, I invited her to our district to come speak with our next generation of leaders here in New Jersey. Today, I was thrilled to introduce her to some of our brightest students who are interested in serving our community and our country," said Congressman Kim." From speaking about my own time working in national security at the State Department, Pentagon, and White House, to hearing about the Ambassador's work around the world on our behalf, it was inspiring to see so many wide, curious, energetic eyes looking back at us and asking us some tough questions. I look forward to staying in touch with many of the students we met today and look forward to seeing them grow into the leaders our country needs."

After Thomas-Greenfield's confirmation in 2021, the Congressman asked the Ambassador to visit New Jersey's Third Congressional District to meet with students and talk about service and her experiences representing the United States. Visiting during the newly named Month of the Military Child, the Ambassador chose a Pemberton Township School, where 22% of the students in the school district come from military-connected families.

Congressman Kim is a proud advocate for military families, especially the children who make incredible sacrifices every day in support of their families. Last week, Congressman Kim introduced bipartisan legislation to designate April as the Month of the Military Child, officially recognizing this important event celebrated each year by the Department of Defense and giving the children the recognition they deserve.

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Committee on Small Business. More information about Congressman Kim can be found on his website, kim.house.gov.
