LOUISVILLE, KY --  U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement today on the passing of former Powell County Judge-Executive Bill Patrick of Lexington, Kentucky:

“Elaine and I are saddened to learn of the passing of our longtime  friend, former Powell County Judge-Executive Bill Patrick. Bill and I  became close during one of my earlier runs for statewide office when he  helped lead a group of conservative Democrats in crossing party lines  and supporting my candidacy. In this role and so many others, including  as the Executive Director of the Kentucky County Attorneys Association,  he never let party labels get in the way of doing what he thought was  best for our Commonwealth and his fellow Kentuckians. My prayers are  with his wife, Tina, and the entire Patrick family as they grieve this  loss.”
