In 2021, our nation implemented the expanded child tax credit, which raised millions of American children out of poverty. By providing our families with $300 per month for every child under the age of 6 and $250 per month for every child aged 6 to 17, our nation managed to slash child poverty by more than 40%. With this financial boost, families could suddenly afford to place their children in daycare, fill their gas tanks, and purchase groceries. The expanded child tax credit enabled many American families to start investing in their financial futures rather than worrying about making ends meet. Despite the program’s tremendous success in reducing child poverty, Congress failed to renew the program. As the next Congresswoman from Florida’s 3rd District, Danielle will strongly support restoring the expanded child tax credit to strengthen our families, abolish child poverty, and restore the American dream.
