Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) issued the following statement after helping the House to pass the bipartisan Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2021:

"Our National Guard and Reservists increasingly take on the same jobs with the same risks as members of our active duty military. These men and women took the same oath, and they deserve to earn the same benefits," said Congressman Chris Pappas. "This bipartisan legislation will ensure every day members of our Guard and Reserves spent in uniform serving our country during the pandemic, natural disaster response efforts, or during the withdrawal from Afghanistan counts toward their GI Bill benefits."

Congressman Pappas is an original co-sponsor of this legislation.

Congressman Pappas is also the lead sponsor of the Burial Equity for Guards and Reserves Act in the House, which would modify existing law to allow state cemeteries to decide whether to inter an honorably discharged Guard member, Reservist, or their spouse or children, without jeopardizing federal grant money.
