Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley and Senator Joni Ernst, both of Iowa, have reconvened a Judicial Selection Commission to evaluate candidates for recommendation to fill an impending vacancy on the bench for the Sothern District of Iowa.

The commission, comprised of the same members that selected candidates for Grassley to recommend that President Obama nominate to federal judgeships in 2015, will follow the same process to evaluate candidates for nomination to fill the seat being vacated following U.S. Chief District Judge John A. Jarvey’s expected retirement in March, 2022.

Last month, Grassley and Ernst announced the open process of collecting applications from outstanding candidates from Iowa’s legal community for the vacancy through the end of this year.
