Andy Kim for Congress: Holds Telephone Town Hall on Inflation Reduction Act

MARLTON, N.J. – On Monday, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) hosted a telephone town hall to discuss the Inflation Reduction Act that he voted to pass in the House on August 12, 2022. President Biden is expected to sign the legislation into law today.

Congressman Kim discussed how the bill will lower health and energy costs for New Jersey families. Included in the bill is Congressman Kim’s provision to cap out-of-pocket prescription drug costs so that no senior on Medicare pays more than $166 per month or $2,000 a year for the medication they need.

He also answered questions from callers on the Inflation Reduction Act’s help lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, implementing the legislation’s relief as quickly as possible, combatting local food insecurity, and advancing local New Jersey manufacturing and innovation though the CHIPS and Science Act that was signed into law on August 9, 2022.

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Committee on Small Business. Since being elected, Congressman Kim has been pushing for Medicare to have the power to negotiate down the cost of prescription drugs.
