Florida

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Kevin “Mac” McGovern is a retired Navy Captain and civilian engineer who has served across the globe over decades with the U.S. Navy and has firsthand experience in Foreign Affairs. He has always been a strong America First conservative Republican who believes in America and the American Dream. He has committed and sacrificed to serve his Nation and community for decades and has defended the Republic in every conflict and war during that time.

He has spent over 40 years serving his country in Naval Aviation. During his exemplary career as both an enlisted man and then as a Navy Officer, he operated across the globe as a citizen-sailor serving on both active duty and in the Navy reserve. During his many years of duty to our Nation Mac has served in both peacetime and wartime, from Asia to Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, he served as a Senior Officer assigned to NATO, under GEN Petraeus.

Mac has also patrolled the East China Sea and has developed specific knowledge concerning Taiwan and the China threat. While in Washington, D.C., he oversaw the production of F-35s, America’s latest generation of stealth fighter planes. He was responsible for the international production and delivery of the first 59 jets to Eglin AFB, FL. He led the effort between the U.S. and our international partners, United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, Norway, Denmark, and Canada.

His years as a civilian engineering expert and Senior Manager in the telecommunications industry has given him keen insight into the issues that we currently have with electronic media censorship. As a former small business owner, he understands that when government gets out of the way we all prosper.

Mac was fortunate enough to be educated in his religion at a parochial school and fiercely believes in school choice. He was raised by his mother and father along with his five siblings in a two-bedroom, one bath house and strongly values family and personal responsibility. He and his wife Maggie have been together for the past 24 years. He volunteers with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those less fortunate and fights for veterans’ rights.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mac came to Central Florida when he was just 17 to join the Navy. Joining the military came natural to him as his father was a WWII veteran who fought in the Pacific. His patriotism for America derives from his immigrant background as his family came from both Ireland and Germany to escape poverty and tyranny.

He is a 1981 graduate of Purdue University and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering. He earned his commission as a Navy Officer in Pensacola, FL at the Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS). He is a graduate of the Defense Acquisition University and holds the highest credential achievable in the U.S. Government as a Level III Program Manager. He also has the rare distinction of being designated as an Acquisition Professional and has handled a budget of over $5 billion USD.

Mac holds an F.A.A. Commercial Pilot Certificate and is also qualified as an Aviation Mechanic. He loves to teach and holds additional certifications to teach advanced and instrument flying.

As a U.S. Congressman, Kevin “Mac” McGovern will fight to Keep America Great. As a decorated war veteran and successful businessman, he is well suited to serve the people of Florida’s 15th District and lead our nation in Congress.
