Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) issued the following statement on the twentieth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
“Two decades have come and gone, but the scars of September 11 remain. Nearly three thousand of our fellow Americans lost their lives during the horrific terror attacks, and many thousands more have suffered from illnesses caused from inhaling toxins that spread across Lower Manhattan. The imagery of that day is etched forever in our minds just as the memories of the fallen and heroic efforts of the first responders are seared in our hearts. The response to the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil demonstrated the grit, resilience and solidarity of the American people. We have rebuilt and are stronger than before. We owe a debt of gratitude to our men and women in uniform who answered the call to serve and fight for America. We will always protect the homeland. No matter the challenge or threat, America will always stand for freedom.”
