Rep. Cheney Introduces Randall Luthi At Natural Resources Subcommittee Hearing

REP. LIZ CHENEY: Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman. It’s my pleasure, Mr. Chairman, to introduce today Randall Luthi, a dear friend, who is also the Chief Energy Adviser for our governor. Randall is an attorney and a rancher in Freedom, Wyoming. Prior to his position with Governor Gordon, Randall was the President of the National Ocean Industries Association. He has a long background in government service, including positions at the Minerals Management Service at the Department of the Interior, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Randall was a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, and was the Speaker of the House in 2005 and 2006.

He’s going to testify today regarding the importance of the coal industry in terms of reliability, affordability, and energy security. I know Randall’s also going to cover the socioeconomic contributions that the coal industry makes to Wyoming and the negative impacts that would result from changes to the federal coal program. So, with that, I will yield back. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

Additionally, Rep. Cheney questioned Mr. Luthi about the success of the Bureau of Land Management’s Federal Coal Leasing Program. Watch their exchange below:
