Maggie Hassan for Congresswoman: Statement from Senator Maggie Hassan on Chuck Morse’s Opposition to a Cap on Insulin Prices

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Today in a radio interview with WKBK’s Dan Mitchell, Republican Senate candidate Chuck Morse announced that he opposes capping the skyrocketing price of lifesaving insulin at $35. In the interview, Morse said he would have sided with Mitch McConnell and Big Pharma in blocking a measure to cap insulin prices in the Inflation Reduction Act, which would have lowered the price of insulin for more than 113,000 Granite Staters who have diabetes.

In response to Morse’s announcement, Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement:

“By opposing a price cap on lifesaving insulin, Chuck Morse has made it crystal clear that he would side with Mitch McConnell and Big Pharma over Granite Staters. The people of New Hampshire deserve a Senator who will fight for them — not a rubber stamp for Big Pharma.”

This weekend, McConnell and his allies killed a bipartisan measure in the Inflation Reduction Act — which seven Republicans voted for — that would have capped insulin prices under private insurance plans at $35.

Morse doesn’t just oppose capping insulin prices — he has also said he would have sided with Big Pharma and Mitch McConnell in voting against the Inflation Reduction Act — which will lower drug costs by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and cap out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for Medicare patients.
