Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi penned an op-ed in the Chicago Sun Times outlining the progress made with regard to lowering the prescription drug prices for all Americans and highlighting additional solutions. Congressman Raja wrote that, “A proven way to reduce the cost of drugs is by allowing the government to negotiate prices with the drug companies… Under the Inflation Reduction Act, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will use Medicare’s enormous buying power to negotiate lower prescription prices from drug companies for Medicare beneficiaries, lowering prices for seniors and people with disabilities… Another way to reduce prescription drug prices for everyone is to reduce the period during which drug companies can exclusively market their biologic drugs.”
