After Receiving Endorsements from More than 140 NH Small Business Leaders, Senator Hassan Stops By Innovative Startup in Exeter

Afterward, Senator Hassan Dropped By Cymbidium Flower Shop

Exeter, NH –  Following her endorsement by more than 140 New Hampshire small business leaders at the “Small Businesses for Maggie” launch event this morning, Senator Hassan visited Propensity, an innovative technology startup in Exeter.

Senator Hassan was welcomed into the office, where she met with employees and the company’s CEO, Carla Vanderhoof, and highlighted her record of supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups by doubling the research and development tax as governor and securing the doubling of the refundable R&D tax credit in the Inflation Reduction Act.

“In New Hampshire, entrepreneurs are the engines of our economy — and that is why I will always fight for them,” said Senator Hassan. “As Governor and Senator, I have worked to cut taxes of start-ups like Propensity because they play a critical role in moving our state forward, growing our economy, and sparking innovation.”

Later, Senator Hassan visited downtown Exeter and stopped into Cymbidium Floral shop to speak with the owner, Jessica Christoferson.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of New Hampshire’s economy, which is why it is so important that Granite Staters have a representative like Senator Hassan who never stops working to find ways to support businesses like mine,” said Cymbidium owner Jessica Christoferson.

Senator Hassan is fighting to support small businesses in New Hampshire and across the country. In the last year, she has worked to pass legislation – that is now law – to provide small businesses with the resources that they need to succeed in the 21st century innovation economy, including:

  • The Inflation Reduction Act, which includes Senator Hassan’s bipartisan measure to double the federal research and development tax credit for small business and startups, building on her work as Governor to double New Hampshire’s research and development tax credit and extend it permanently.
  • The bipartisan innovation and competition bill, which will help the United States outcompete countries like China, invest in American research and manufacturing, and expand workforce development for technology and manufacturing fields.
  • The bipartisan infrastructure law that is helping New Hampshire businesses thrive by expanding high-speed internet to every community in the state and improving our roads, bridges, and ports so that businesses can move their goods more efficiently.
