The representatives Maria Elvira Salazar ( FL-27 ), Mario Díaz-Balart ( FL-25 ) and Carlos A. Giménez ( FL-26 ) issued the following statement on the recent purchase of Radio Mambí by left-wing investors.
“ For years, an increasingly radical left has sought to silence conservative Hispanic voices in South Florida. Unfortunately, the purchase of Radio Mambí by left-wing investors appears to be part of a long-term plan. Radio Mambí became a legendary home for anti-communist voices in South Florida because it was one of the few places where those who value freedom of thought could say what they thought and argued against socialist tyranny in our hemisphere. We are concerned that this purchase of Radio Mambí is a barely veiled attempt to silence the inconvenient voices for progressive liberals. If true, it will be yet another attempt by the left to deteriorate the rights of the first amendment and a free market for ideas.
"If this is an attempt by the left to sell Hispanics their ideology and cultural wars, then we predict that this company is doomed to failure as Air America did. Hispanics are much smarter than that ”.
