Gimenez ( FL-26 ), along with Senators James Risch ( R-ID ), Marco Rubio ( R-FL ), Ted Cruz ( R-TX ), Rick Scott ( R-FL ), and Bill Cassidy ( R-LA ) issued the following statement about the Biden Administration's recent announcement to grant concessions to the brutal Cuban dictatorship.

"During last year's historic protests against the Cuban regime, President Biden said: 'USA. supports the brave Cubans who have taken to the streets to oppose 62 years of repression under a communist regime'. "However, today, as hundreds of activists remain illegally imprisoned, the White House is reviving President Obama's failed policy of unilateral concessions to the Castro / Diaz-Canel criminal dictatorship. Instead of supporting the pleas for freedom of the Cuban people by expanding democratic programming, transmission, global diplomacy, and sanctions against their oppressors, the Biden White House is rewarding the longest communist dictatorship in the western hemisphere not just with high-level talks, easing sanctions, increasing travel, access to the US and to our financial institutions. Appeasing Cuba's murderous regime does not meet the legal requirements of US law. and undermines US support to Cuba's democratic opposition.

"The repeated concessions of the Biden Administration to the Cuban dictatorship are a betrayal of our nation's commitment to human rights and freedom, and with the Cuban people fighting for a democratic transition ”.
