Today, the representative María Elvira Salazar organized a round table with Miami community leaders on the Dignity Law (HR 6637), a comprehensive Immigration Reform bill consisting of three fundamental principles: stop illegal immigration, provide a decent solution for immigrants living in the United States and strengthen the American workforce and economy.

Roundtable attendees were a representation of a diverse group of activists and leaders from various Miami groups and stakeholders, including the Honduran-American, Venezuelan-American communities, Colombian-American and Nicaraguan-American, as well as immigration attorneys, religious leaders, advocates of economic empowerment and mental health.

“ I am very happy to hear from Miami community leaders and answer their questions about my proposal to address the complex problems facing our country around immigration ”, representative Salazar said. “ As your voice in Washington, I am working diligently to solve one of the most complex problems in our community and throughout the United States. That is why I present the Dignity Law, which fully secures our border and addresses systemic problems in our immigration system through common sense solutions ”.

“ We applaud Congresswoman Salazar's leadership in addressing the nation's complex immigration reform needs. The Dignity Act aims to create a path to the American Dream while maintaining law and order. As a first-generation American and the son of Nicaraguan immigrants, I appreciate the congresswoman's initiative; and I hope that Congress can provide a bipartisan and common sense solution to the country's pressing immigration problems ”, said Jonathan Durate, director of the Nicaraguan Self-Convened Union ( UNA ).

“ The Dignity Law, a bill presented by Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar and a group of Republicans, is a comprehensive immigration reform that addresses three important concerns: border security, the current situation of undocumented immigrants and workers and the American economy. The bill also provides a solution for those who came to the US. USA when they were children, for TPS holders and for agricultural workers. Fixing the American immigration system is challenging and no bill may have solutions to all problems, but the Dignity Act offers a solution to the most pressing immigration concerns ”, said Martha Arias, immigration attorney and shareholder of Arias Villa LLC.

"We congratulate Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar for taking a step forward and proposing the Dignity Law as an alternative to solve a migration system that needs immediate reform. The contribution of the eleven million immigrants to the development of this beautiful nation is undeniable and a humanitarian solution is necessary for thousands of families who are in a migratory limbo", said Indira Morales, president of the Honduran Organization Francisco Morazán.

“ I believe that Congresswoman Salazar's immigration plan is comprehensive, balanced and necessary for our community and beneficial for our country ”, said Alfred Santamaría, president and founder of the Colombo Americanos Unidos Foundation.

“ I think DIGNITY is a response to a growing immigration problem that nobody wants to tackle, because it offers a straight path to what this country is. Freedom and opportunity for all ”, said Dr. Edgar Ordóñez, senior pastor of the New Hope in Christ Ministry.

"The Dignity Law represents a step forward to defend our national security and alleviate the burden of millions of immigrants", said María Herrera, legal director of Americano Media and lawyer for Kivaki Law Firm.

The Dignity Law is the only realistic solution proposed in Congress that fully secures the border, restores law and order in our immigration system, promulgates a 10-year Dignity Program that provides renewable legal status and offers an additional optional Redemption path for permanent legalization. This reasonable and compassionate approach will finally fix an immigration system that has been broken for decades. It was written in consultation with American business leaders, agricultural and livestock industries, the religious community, immigration reform groups, and border security experts.
