Today, Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar sent Secretary of State Antony Blinken a letter criticizing her unfulfilled promise to include the Cuban exiled community in any conversation with the brutal regime Castro and demands that he be included in the next meeting that the Biden administration will hold with Carlos Fernández de Cossío.

"Secretary Blinken gave me his word when he testified before Congress last year and has failed to comply," said Congresswoman Salazar. "The Administration did not fulfill its promise to consult with the Cuban-American exiled community. In South Florida we know that the murderous Cuban communist regime cannot be trusted. To ensure that the voices of my District residents are heard, I am asking the State Department to include me in its misguided meeting with the Communist Government".

During a hearing of the Foreign Relations Committee of the House of Representatives on March 10, 2021, in response to a question from Representative Salazar, Secretary Blinken promised to "consult with the Cuban-American exiled community" before engaging in any conversation with the Castro regime.
