Yesterday, the Congressman María Elvira Salazar ( FL-27 ) joined the representative Mario Díaz-Balart ( FL-25 ) and al Senator Rick Scott ( R-FL ) to praise José Daniel Ferrer and the brave Cuban activists against the regime, by presenting resolutions in their respective chambers. Both resolutions, H.Res 867 and S.Res 489, demand the immediate release of José Daniel Ferrer and the other numerous protesters on July 11, 2021.

The Senate version, sponsored by Senators Rick Scott, Marco Rubio, and Mike Braun, was unanimously approved last night in the United States Senate.

"As a defender of Human Rights and Democracy in Cuba, José Daniel Ferrer has directly confronted the regime for years, suffering torture and imprisonment on multiple occasions. But Ferrer has never renounced his principles, and together with his organization - UNPACU - he has led the fight for freedom in Cuba", Congresswoman Salazar said. "Neither José Daniel nor any Cuban should be imprisoned and tortured for protesting peacefully for the rights that God has given them. The United States will always stand by the brave men and women who rise up against the regime".

"I am proud to co-direct this crucial resolution with my colleague and friend, the senator Rick Scott. Six months after the peaceful protests of July 11, 2021, the Cuban dictatorship continues to repress and punish those who dared to demand bravely freedom. Some of those incarcerated, including those who are being subjected to false trials, they are children", Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart said. "The cruelty of the regime has revealed not only its malevolence towards the Cuban people, but which has revealed the unwavering value of the numerous and brave pro-democracy activists in Cuba who are enduring atrocious abuses by Human Rights simply for demanding respect for fundamental rights. They will prevail".

"The United States must denounce the human rights abuses committed by the illegitimate communist regime in Cuba. This resolution is an important signal to political dissidents within the Island on which the United States is on their side. We have the moral responsibility to support the causes of freedom and democracy in our hemisphere. I thank the senators for their continued support for the Cuban people", said the Congressman Carlos Giménez.

"Last night, the United States Senate sent a strong message to the illegitimate Cuban communist regime that we stand together in support of the brave people of Cuba who fight tirelessly for freedom, and we will not stop until there is a new day of freedom on the Island. I am proud that my colleagues in the Senate have joined me in unanimously approving my resolution in support of the brave Cuban democracy activists and in strong condemnation of the Human Rights abuses of the illegitimate Cuban communist regime, but we cannot stop now. Innocent Cubans are dying simply because they want freedom and democracy for their families, and others, like José Daniel Ferrer, are being ruthlessly tortured.I will not stop fighting to support these brave freedom activists and all those who demand an end to the brutal Cuban communist regime", said the Senator Rick Scott.

"For years, José Daniel Ferrer and the members of the Patriotic Union of Cuba ( UNPACU ) have been the target of the Castro and Díaz-Canel regime. Have been

subjected to unimaginable difficulties and arbitrary arrests simply for oppose the tyranny and repression of the dictatorship", Senator Marco Rubio said ( R-FL ). "I applaud the United States Senate for approving this resolution, which reaffirms our support and solidarity to one of the most emblematic freedom fighters from Cuba".

"The continuous violations of Human Rights by the communist government from Cuba are reprehensible. I am proud to join Senator Rick Scott on this resolution recognizing the actions of democracy activist José Daniel Ferrer García and all the human rights activists who face the regime Cuban totalitarian", Senator Mike Braun said ( R-IN ).
