Katie Hobbs for Governor: Hobbs Campaign Statement on Kari Lake Forcing Part of Asu Campus to Shutdown

Katie Hobbs will be appearing on Arizona PBS for a scheduled interview in studio at ASU. Last week, Kari Lake held a press conference at ASU and called on her supporters to contact ASU, PBS, and ASU President Michael Crow. As a result, ASU received death threats and their staff were attacked with racial slurs. In response to the security risk posed by a potential Kari Lake disruption of today’s interview, ASU sent out an advisory to students and faculty to avoid appearing in person on campus tonight.

“It’s clear that Kari Lake represents a fundamental threat to not only our democracy, but also to Arizonans’ safety,” said Nicole DeMont, campaign manager for Katie Hobbs for Governor. “Every Arizonan should be able to feel safe attending classes and going to work, but Kari Lake’s chaos puts that very safety in jeopardy.  We still plan to appear on PBS tonight and ensure that voters hear Katie’s message for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Arizona, no matter Kari Lake’s dangerous antics.”
