Tudor Dixon for Governor: Tudor Dixon Responds to Whitmer's Latest Flip-Flop, Vetoes Bill Decriminalizing Deer Reporting

Michigan

Republican Gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon issued the following statement in response to Whitmer's latest veto of House Bill 6354, which would cancel criminal penalties for deer reporting requirements:

"As expected, Gretchen Whitmer vetoed a bill that would have decriminalized not reporting deer kills within an arbitrary timeframe mandated by her Natural Resources Commission. The current 72-hour time frame is unreasonable, given the realities of hunting throughout Michigan. Once again, Gretchen Whitmer and her bureaucrats are indifferent to the issue.

"Hunters are leery of providing information that previously was not required and wonder where it will end. They are also concerned about the DNR pursuing misdemeanors against them, potentially jeopardizing CPL licenses and other rights.

"I can assure deer hunters I will repeal the DNR’s latest ruling when I am sworn into office and protect their Second Amendment and privacy rights. Gretchen Whitmer will only continue to restrict gun rights and drown hunters in bureaucratic red tape."
