NORTH JERSEY — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) hosted a Telephone Town Hall with thousands of members of North Jersey’s Asian American and Pacific Islander community to discuss his work standing up to hate and bigotry, how his Affordability Agenda for Jersey is helping lower costs for families, and work to support small businesses by addressing the COVID-driven supply chain crisis, combating our dependence on foreign manufacturing, and cutting through red tape and bureaucracy.

“This telephone town hall allowed me to connect with thousands of members of the Fifth District’s Asian American and Pacific Islander community — to continue ensuring their voices are heard.  As we’ve seen horrific hate crimes increase, I will continue sending a clear message: hate has no home here. Last Congress, I was proud to support a resolution condemning all forms of anti-Asian sentiment related to COVID-19, and I proudly supported this resolution again this Congress. I will do everything I can to stand up to all forms of hate and bigotry.” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Together, we also discussed how the Inflation Reduction Act is a huge win for New Jersey and our nation — it does not raise taxes one penny on families or small businesses in my district, it will lower prescription drug prices for seniors, provide support for families struggling with the high cost of health insurance, create jobs, and put in place the most important climate investments in our nation’s history.”

Gottheimer was joined on the telephone town hall by Closter Councilwoman Jannie Chung, Korean American Grassroots Conference Executive Director Sungkwan Jang, and Sikh Chamber of Commerce, NJ AAPI Commission member, and Babla Fuel LLC President/Owner Yogi Virk.
