DENVER — With 22 days remaining until the election, Michael has been working hard to rally his supporters all over the state.
On Saturday, Michael started his day by attending a canvass launch for State Representative Tom Sullivan, a gun safety advocate who lost his son in the Aurora movie theater shooting ten years ago. At the event, Michael spoke about the bipartisan gun safety bill the Senate passed over the Summer, and reiterated his commitment to fighting to end gun violence in America.
After the canvass launch, Michael stopped by the Womxn’s March in Denver, where he marched with the hundreds of people that came out in support of women’s rights. Michael’s opponent was nowhere to be seen at the march.
On Sunday, Michael attended a brunch with Latinas for Bennet, a group of Latina leaders from across the state, including State Rep. Serena Gonzales-Guttierez, Denver City Councilmembers Amanda Sandoval and Jamie Torres, and Colorado Latino Democratic Initiative Director Margaret Atencio. Michael spoke about his commitment to fighting for Colorado’s Hispanic communities at the event.
In the afternoon on Sunday, Michael held an LGBTQ Meet and Greet at the Triangle in Downtown Denver, where he discussed his work for Colorado’s LGBTQ community, and answered questions from supporters about his commitment to protecting LGBTQ rights, at a time when Republicans across the country are threatening their rights.
On Monday, Michael traveled to Durango for a campaign event with State Representative Barbara McLachlan and the La Plata Dems at Carver’s Brewery. At the event, Michael reiterated the importance of electing Democrats at every level of government.
“Any election between now and when we expire is the most important election of our lifetimes,” said Michael at the event in Durango. “We have to double our efforts to get folks around the state to turn out and vote this November.”
On Thursday, Michael was joined on the campaign trail by former U.S. Senator from Alabama, Doug Jones. Michael and Senator Jones began their day by stopping by the University of Denver for an event with the DU Law Democrats, where they took questions from students and emphasized the importance of young people coming out to vote.
In the evening, Senator Bennet and Senator Jones traveled to Thorton, where they spoke at a canvass kickoff and phone bank launch. The senators discussed the importance of electing Democrats up and down the ballot, and thanked the volunteers at the event for everything they were doing to ensure a Democratic victory this November.
On Friday, Michael ended his week by joining the first annual “Crow Fest”, a rally at the Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton in support of Congressman Jason Crow. At the event, which was attended by hundreds of people, Michael spoke about Democrats’ accomplishments in Congress over the past year, and urged everyone to get involved in the final weeks of the election.
With the election right around the corner, Michael and his campaign have no intention of slowing down. Coloradans will reelect Michael this November, because of his work delivering for Coloradans and working toward solutions to the issues Coloradans face.
