SEN. GRASSLEY AGAIN MISLEADS ABOUT ADM. FRANKEN’S PLAN — TO COVER UP HIS OWN RECORD OF RAISING COSTS FOR IOWA FAMILIES

Franken has a clear plan to fight inflation – unlike Sen. Grassley who repeatedly sides with his corporate special interest donors and opposes legislation to lower costs

Desperate to cover up his disastrous record of voting against fighting inflation by reducing costs for Iowans — all to protect the massive profits of his corporate special interest donors –— Sen. Chuck Grassley is trying to deceive Iowa voters about the policies of Admiral Mike Franken, claiming he has no plan to fight inflation.

This is false, as Adm. Franken has laid out clear ideas to bring our inflation crisis to an end and lower costs for Iowa families.

But it makes sense why Sen. Grassley would rather lie about Adm. Franken’s record than discuss his own. Time after time, Sen. Grassley has voted against Iowa families and for policies that allow his corporate special interest donors to jack up prices.

  • After Sen. Grassley wrote and passed the bill banning Medicare from negotiating with the drug companies for lower prices – he voted against fixing that damage to allow his drug company donors to continue making larger profits at the expense of Iowans’ pocketbooks.
  • He voted against capping insulin costs at $35 a month for Iowa seniors.
  • He voted against a $1,600 middle class tax cut that would put more money in the pockets of Iowa families because he said it was too expensive, but he helped write and pass a law that gave billions in tax giveaways to the large corporations that shipped Iowa jobs overseas even though it added nearly $2 trillion in debt.
  • And he voted against reducing the deficit by more than $300 billion to start to get our budget in check.
  • He’s even attacked Iowans struggling to get by for “spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.”
In contrast, Adm. Franken will get to work on day one in Washington to fight inflation. His plan will:

  • Fixing the supply chain: Lower costs and strengthen Iowa businesses by fixing our broken supply chain by getting more truck drivers onto the road to transport goods to market faster and improve our lock and dam system to boost shipping on Iowa’s rivers
  • Stop price gouging: Pass legislation to hold large corporations – particularly oil and gas companies and grocery monopolies – accountable for price gouging to prevent them from jacking up prices on Iowans
  • Encourage domestic energy production: Pass bipartisan permitting reform to increase domestic energy production to lower gas prices in the short term and increase our energy independence
  • Cut middle class taxes: Pass a middle-class tax cut that puts more money in the pockets of working families, while reducing the deficit through fair tax reform that ensures the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share
  • Year round E-15: Allow year-round E-15 permanently and nationwide to reduce gas prices and strengthen Iowa’s ethanol industry
  • Cap the cost of insulin: Cap insulin prices at $35 a month for every American and protect Medicare’s ability to negotiate for lower drug prices – while extending the prices negotiated to private insurance and pharmacies outside of Medicare as well
Invest in housing: Invest in affordable housing to build more homes and rehabilitate existing stock to ensure Iowans in all communities can afford to live where they choose
