USDA Rural Development Approves $5 Million Loan Guarantee To Support Broadband In Giles County

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has awarded a $5 million loan guarantee to Pembroke Telephone Cooperative for broadband. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Broadband is essential for advancing economic development and the availability of new opportunities in rural areas. USDA Rural Development’s $5 million loan guarantee to Pembroke Telephone Cooperative will help deliver improved service in Giles County and enhance the county’s quality of life.”

According to USDA Rural Development, this loan guarantee will be used to construct 114 miles of aerial fiber-optic plant, 14 miles of buried fiber-optic plant, and construct new fiber to the premises facilities, benefiting 1,833 subscribers in the service area.
