It will cost millions of dollars more than expected to rebuild Offutt Air Force base following the floods in March of 2019.

A third of the base was destroyed in the waters — initial estimates put the cost at $800 million — but now it’s about $1.1 billion.

Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon told KETV that he’s confident he will get the funds the base needs.

“I think we are in a good spot for rebuilding Offutt — and they are going to raise these buildings higher so they are more flood resistant,” Bacon said. “As you already know they already got the levees raised as well.”
