Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) announced that she was appointed to the Standing Committee on Law, Criminal Justice & Public Safety for the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) 2022 Summit, which convenes next month. This committee was created to develop directives covering a wide range of policy areas, including but not limited to criminal justice, civil justice, sovereign immunity, election reform, and immigration.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the Law, Criminal Justice & Public Safety Committee at next month’s NCSL summit, and feel that my years of experience in the civil court system make me an asset to this committee,” said Rep. Galonski. “Given the current social and political climate, it is more important than ever for state legislators to be at the forefront of criminal justice reform efforts throughout the country.”
Prior to her tenure in the Ohio House of Representatives, Rep. Galonski served as a juvenile court magistrate for 14 years and has a wealth of experience in the civil justice system. She currently serves as Ranking Member on the House Civil Justice Committee and sits on the Criminal Justice, State & Local Government, and Government Oversight Committees.
Established in 1975, the National Conference of State Legislators seeks to advance the effectiveness and improve cooperation and communication among state legislatures. Each year, NCSL hosts the nation’s largest bipartisan gathering of legislator.
