Former President Barack Obama announced his support for secretary of state and Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs in a video released by the Hobbs campaign. Obama praised Hobbs as a defender of democracy and leader who will protect the right to vote and a woman’s right to choose.

“I am honored to receive the support of former President Barack Obama, whose leadership inspires us all to keep going, even in the most challenging times,” Hobbs said. “President Obama understands the stakes of this election and that this race comes down to a choice between sanity versus chaos. Arizona deserves a leader who will put people first, politics last. As governor, I will continue my life’s work in service and work with everyone, regardless of their party affiliation, to secure our future.”
