U.S. Department Of Transportation Awards $6.6 Million For Virginia Highlands Airport Runway Extension

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $6,637,500 to the Virginia Highlands Airport Commission to extend its runway. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“The U.S. Department of Transportation’s more than $6.6 million grant will be used to extend the Virginia Highlands 6/24 runway to 5,500 feet. This is a significant investment in Washington County resulting in the runway meeting Federal Aviation Administration standards and improving the availability of general aviation services for the region.”
