Our top goal should be to preserve Social Security and Medicare and keep our promise to seniors by providing them the benefits they paid for and earned. Right now, reckless spending on other things is putting these programs at risk, while inflation today hurts seniors by reducing their purchasing power on fixed benefits. We must also encourage Americans to prepare for retirement and build wealth by other means during their working years so they can thrive in their golden years. As of now, the Social Security Trust Fund (SSTF) will not be able to meet payment obligations by the year 2034 if things don't change. Congress must ensure that these benefits are available for those who have earned them and built them into their retirement plans. As your Congressman, I'll fight to keep that promise. I will also fight for sound economic policies that promote job and wage growth. Since SSTF funding comes from wage taxes, more jobs and higher wages mean more money for the program. As a former Social Security Administrative Law Judge, you can count on me to protect you.
