RALEIGH: Candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley and Laphonza Butler, President of Emily’s List, spoke with students at North Carolina Central University and North Carolina State University to hear from young voters about their concerns and discuss the importance of protecting access to abortion rights in the U.S. Senate.

“I heard from young voters who are worried that their constitutional rights, including access to abortion, will continue to be stripped away because of politicians like Congressman Budd who are hell-bent on getting between a woman and her doctor. As a former judge and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, I know that access to abortion is a constitutional right and that women should be able to make decisions about their bodies and futures without government interference – and in the Senate I will stand up to protect our rights like I have for over two decades,” said Cheri Beasley.

“As a former judge and Chief Justice, Cheri has spent her entire career protecting our rights, upholding the Constitution, and keeping communities safe. We know we can count on her to stand up for us in the Senate to defend our rights and stand against efforts from out-of-touch, extreme politicians to strip them away at every turn. With abortion on the ballot this November, the stakes of North Carolina’s Senate race could not be higher – and the need to elect Cheri could not be more important,” said Laphonza Butler, President of EMILY’s List.
