RALEIGH: Today, Cheri Beasley for North Carolina released a new ad highlighting Cheri’s commitment to supporting investments in skills training and apprenticeship programs to make sure all North Carolinians have access to good paying jobs and underscored Congressman Budd’s record of opposing these programs.

“I don’t understand politicians like Congressman Ted Budd who votes against the jobs training and apprenticeship programs that give opportunities to workers like me,” said Skylar, a former apprentice from Durham. “Cheri Beasley gets it, she knows that you shouldn’t need to go to college to get ahead and she’ll fight to expand skills training programs.”

Cheri has traveled the state visiting apprenticeship centers and technical community colleges to speak with students and educators about how local apprenticeship training centers prepare North Carolinians for high-demand careers and share her commitment to supporting career and technical education and apprenticeship programs to create good-paying jobs and an economy that works for all of North Carolina.

Read the transcript of the ad below:

“College wasn’t for me but I worked hard and have a great job thanks to my apprenticeship program.

That’s why I don’t understand politicians like Congressman Ted Budd who votes against the jobs training and apprenticeship programs that give opportunities to workers like me.

Cheri Beasley gets it, she knows that you shouldn’t need to go to college to get ahead and she’ll fight to expand skills training programs.

It comes down to who’s on our side, who gets it, and that’s Cheri Beasley for sure.

I’m Cheri Beasley and I approve this message.”
