RALEIGH: Today, candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley released a statement following the mass shooting in Raleigh that left North Carolinians dead and others seriously injured:

“I am devastated by the senseless violence that took place in Raleigh last night and my heart breaks for the families who lost loved ones, as well as those who have been injured. I am grateful for the courage and commitment of our law enforcement who responded with swift action even as they grieve the loss of one of their own. As we grapple with this all-too-familiar tragedy reaching our own community, I stand resolved to do my part to prevent this avoidable violence in other communities.”
