I’ve been to about 30 countries, nearly all were in Western Europe. I’ve also travelled, hiked and/or vacationed in all of our 48 mainland states. We have the most beautiful and diverse country! Almost all of my traveling was done with my daughter while she was going up. She was homeschooled for much of her childhood, so much of how she learned about things like culture and the arts was through field trips. We went on a Dinosaur Adventure for a couple weeks where we went to dinosaur digs, museums, parks, etc. We’d go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, the Sacre Coeur and the Dutch painters. All the Roman and Greek statutes would correlate beautifully with her studies on the subject. Soon after we saw the movie ‘The Girl With the Pearl Earring’ we visited the painting in Belgium.
We spent my daughter’s high school years in France, where she learned to read, speak and write the language. She got an 800 on her French SATs. I pretty much stick to English, although I can speak some French, a little Portuguese and a handful of words in other various languages. We used to love wrestling. We’d take little 3 show vacations! In fact, I even started wrestling local shows for a summer. It was great fun. I grew up on individual sports like skiing – both water and ice, walking, hiking and camping. I started riding a dirt bike when I was two and my sister was three. Dad welded training wheels on it. He raced. The whole family rode. When I was a teen, I rode a trail bike. We did a lot of back rode riding out in the basin of Pikes Peak during my teen years. It taught me endurance; how to get through things without giving up.
