Here are some links to facts and resources about Covid 19:
- Though Covid 19 has some flu-like symptoms, it is not the flu: it is deadlier. How much deadlier varies by location and how well the governments have implemented precautions and testing.
- Unfortunately, there is a test shortage in the US, so we don’t have a true case rate, but, it appears that we are on the same trajectory as Italy (roughly 10 days behind).
- It is important that we suspend in-person meetings and activities to reduce physical contact.
- One might have the virus and not know it (and be able to spread it to others).
- One of the biggest dangers is overwhelming the medical system. Slowing the spread /"flattening the curve" helps keep our clinics and hospitals from being overwhelmed. The Washington Post has excellent graphics/ models that show how this works.
- There is a lot of confusion about whether domestic pets can get and spread Covid-19. As of Friday, March 13, 2020 the WHO says that animals CAN get the virus. Here is a link to the report of a dog testing positive for it in Hong Kong. Here is an article giving context.
