Eddie Geller: WELL, I'VE HAD ENOUGH.

Florida

I believe that good people need to run for office — because we need good people in Congress who are willing to step up, take risks, and do good things. People who understand the sheer weight of their responsibility to their district, their neighbors, and their communities. And dare I say it — we need some fresh blood.

I'm being told not to use the phrase "fresh blood."

Okay, we need fresh ideas. I’ll throw one out there: We don’t need to hate our neighbors and fellow Americans as much as Fox News and Facebook try to make us think we do. Most people I talk to just want government to work on their behalf, and they don’t like how extreme our politics have gotten. I don’t like it either! And I don’t think we get things done by endlessly fighting about the things we disagree on, rather than working on the issues where there’s common ground.

I’m in this race because we’re running out of time. The planet is running out of time. Nobody knows this better than Floridians, and no state in the country is more at risk from the effects of climate change. We can do what needs to be done — you know, actually helping people who need help, like our representatives are supposed to — by winning Florida’s 15th District. Nothing less than the future of our species, and how we choose to care for our neighbors and fellow Americans, is hanging in the balance.
