WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, on Tuesday released the following statement on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) announcement of an additional $15 million funded by Murphy’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act for states to develop and transform Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) to address the country’s mental health crisis. CCBHCs provide crisis services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and serve anyone who requests care for mental health or substance use, regardless of their ability to pay.
“Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics meet people where they are and help ensure everyone can access and afford the mental health care they need. This new funding from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is going to expand a model that has already proven itself successful and will support ongoing work to improve mental health care in Connecticut. I’m proud to see these dollars start making a difference in communities across the country,” said Murphy.
