Prison Population Down 20% Since MLG Took Office

Albuquerque, NM – This week, Mark Ronchetti released a new ad highlighting the largest Fentanyl bust in FBI history, that happened right here in Albuquerque. Over one million pills were seized in the raid, more than enough to kill every child in New Mexico several times over.

One of the FBI informants was quoted as saying that gang members are choosing New Mexico because it is an easier place to be a criminal.  These drug traffickers know that they will not face consequences here because of Michelle Lujan Grisham’s soft-on-crime laws and the liberal judges she has appointed.

“Governor Lujan Grisham can’t attract jobs to New Mexico, but she’s been very successful when it comes to attracting dangerous criminals,” said Ryan Sabel, Ronchetti for Governor Communications Director.

The ad also points out that during Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration, the prison population has decreased by 20% while crime is skyrocketing. This damning fact puts to lie any claim the governor can make about being tough and/or effective when it comes to fighting crime.

To make matters worse, Governor Lujan Grisham has ordered the early release of criminals from prison, which continues to this very day. MLG tried to justify her order claiming it was for COVID, but she  has never stopped releasing these criminals early – even though the pandemic has long ago been declared over.

One of the gang members targeted by the FBI in the bust was released from prison early under her executive order. Omar Manzanilla has been arrested 20 times, but the governor still commuted his sentence to let him out of prison. Unfortunately, Manzanilla is but one example – the governor has released hundreds of dangerous criminals from prison early, many of whom have gone on to commit more crimes.

It is time to hold the governor accountable for her actions, New Mexico is continually endangered by her soft-on-crime policies.
