Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) discussed $750,000 he recently secured in FY 22 Community Project Funding on behalf of the New Hampshire YWCA to expand ACERT programs across New Hampshire. This funding will enhance trauma-informed training for law enforcement and first responders so they can best respond to children who have experienced trauma.

Pappas also joined Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig to tour a soon-to-be completed affordable housing project in honor of National Community Development Week. The project has been made possible through federal HOME grant funding.

"The last two years have only exacerbated the ongoing addiction and mental health crisis and lack of affordable housing across New Hampshire," said Congressman Chris Pappas, "These funds for projects like ACERT program and new housing come at a critical time when our communities recover from the pandemic. I'll continue to advocate for the resources to ensure all Granite Staters have access to the quality, housing and mental health resources they need."

Pappas continued: "Developed right here in New Hampshire, ACERT is a community effort between law enforcement and service providers to protect and help our kids. I'm pleased that the federal funds I secured will help expand ACERT and the work it is doing with the Manchester Police Department, the YWCA, and other partners to continue to help our kids and families overcome trauma."

Pappas recently announced a legislative package to fund the government through fiscal year 2022 will include funding he secured for nine different New Hampshire projects, including the ACERT program.

Pappas also helped introduce a law enforcement funding bill which included his Safe Communities Agenda that would establish a national ACERT program. Senator Shaheen has led this legislation in the Senate.
