Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) joined a group of lawmakers on Capitol Hill to call for the passage of the bipartisan Lower Food and Fuel Costs Act to combat rising costs and deliver relief to New Hampshire families.

"There's no more pressing priority than lowering the cost of fuel and lowering the cost of groceries for New Hampshire families," said Congressman Pappas. "That's why it is so important that we move legislation forward on a bipartisan basis and get Granite Staters the relief they need. I talk with constituents each and every day in New Hampshire who are feeling the impacts of price increases and inflation right now: a family that paid hundreds at the grocery store on a single trip just for the basic necessities, seniors on fixed incomes who worry about being able to afford their medications, in addition to other expenses, and countless other stories that underscore the need for action. This is one of many steps that we must take to address these challenges and I remain committed to fighting to provide the relief that Granite Staters need."

Background:

The Lower Food and Fuel Costs is part of a package of bipartisan bills to lower prices for America's families in the grocery aisle and at the gas pump by giving America's farmers and ranchers the support they need to thrive.

In June, Pappas called on House leadership to bring legislation to the floor that would address inflation and supply concerns and lower rising costs for families.

In May, Pappas passed legislation to crack down on price gouging and lower gas prices for Granite Staters.
