U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement on the passing of retired Derry Police Chief Edward Garone:

“Chief Garone represented the very best of New Hampshire, living his life in service to our state and our country. For a remarkable half-century, Chief Garone served with dedication, leading the Derry Police Department and working day in and day out to keep the people of Derry safe.

“Chief Garone was an invaluable member of the Derry community, and worked to give back even outside his time in uniform. He always cared first and foremost about helping people – and people across our state are grateful for his decades of dedicated service.
