Senator Hassan delivered remarks at the 8th Annual James W. Foley Freedom Run. The event honors the legacy of James Foley, a New Hampshire native and journalist, who was murdered in Syria by ISIS in 2014. At the event, Senator Hassan thanked his family and supporters of the James W. Foley Foundation, which works to honor his life by advocating for the freedom of all Americans held hostage abroad and promoting the safety of journalists worldwide.

“James Foley’s work connected us to events across the globe and illuminated stories of struggle and of hope – and his kindness and fearlessness left an incredible impact,” said Senator Hassan. “I am grateful to his family, and all of the participants, teams, and sponsors here for your willingness to devote your time and energy to support his mission, life, and legacy. We must all continue this vital work to protect journalists, defend the freedom of the press, and advocate for human rights.”
