Governor Polis took action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Marshall Fire.

Governor Polis amended and extended the Executive Order pertaining to the State’s disaster declaration due to COVID-19 in Colorado. To help increase staffing capacity in the health care system, the Governor’s order suspends statutes to allow emergency medical technicians (EMT) and paramedics licensed in other states to assist in responding to increased need due to COVID-19 and allows a directive on the Department of Revenue’s direct payment permits to expire.

The Governor extended an Executive Order requiring hospitals and freestanding emergency departments to transfer or cease the admission of patients to respond to the current disaster emergency due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Colorado.

Governor Polis signed an Executive Order memorializing his verbal order on December 30, 2021 declaring a state of disaster emergency due to the Marshall Fire and straight-line winds in Boulder County and employing the Colorado National Guard for the purpose of responding to the Marshall Fire to fund fire suppression, response, consequence management, and recovery efforts related to the Marshall Fire and to employ two term-limited staff to advise on and coordinate wildfire recovery efforts.
