Greenwood Village, CO — Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Heidi Ganahl is calling on Jared Polis to release his tax returns. Ganahl has filed her returns and is challenging Polis to join her in releasing them to the public.

Countless times, we see politicians enter politics to further enrich themselves on the backs of their constituents. If we are to believe that these same antics are not being applied, we need full transparency. Governor Polis’ personal wealth has been elusive and has caused many to question what type of tax scheme he operates under the guise of a public servant.

“Jared Polis has spent more than $35 million of his own personal wealth on buying gubernatorial elections. While he continues to raise taxes on hardworking Coloradans, Polis has continually refused to be honest with us about his share of the burden. As governor, I will insist on transparency and honesty in my administration,” says Ganahl.

Background: Just last year, it came to light that Polis has not paid income tax for several years. ProPublica reported (linked here) that Polis did not pay any income tax in 2013, 2014, or 2015. An examination of the limited years Polis has released found that he wrote more than $2 million off for a “charity” called the Jared Polis Foundation that pushed what amounted to campaign flyers while he was running for the Colorado Board of Education.

It is safe to say that Governor Polis has dramatically increased his personal wealth since becoming involved in politics.

“With a reported net worth of about $400 million in 2022, this makes Polis one of the wealthiest politicians in the country.” – Out There Colorado (linked here)
